The Third Dynasty of Egypt was the first dynasty that begun in the period of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. Three more dynasties are a part of this period; the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth dynasties. The capital of this period was located at Memphis.

Ancient Egypt came under rule of Pharaoh Djoser which begun the Third Dynasty[1] after civil wars broke out during the Second Dynasty.
