The Battle of Midway took place in June, 1942 - near Midway Island in the Pacific Ocean. It was part of the War in the Pacific during World War Two, and saw America achieve a huge victory over Japan.


All four Japanese aircraft carriers were destroyed by American dive bombers, as well as 322 planes and 3500 men. The American navy lost one aircraft carrier: the Yorktown.

Ultimately, the Battle gave the US its first decisive defeat over Japan.
